Start at the Ledger and Ladle during the evening receipt tally. Mira Mintstamp has noticed that the Cider Levy records do not match the barges arriving after dusk. Offer three leads: a missing stamp from the Council archive, a ferryman willing to trade names for a favor, and a rival guild clerk who insists the extra cargo is only sugarcane. Keep the pressure practical: permits delay travel, river gates close at nightfall, and every official wants a properly filed explanation before helping.

  1. BiscuitwickSettlement · Standalone entry

Biscuitwick is a canal town of painted rowhouses, market barges, and patient ferrymen. Its Council of Receipts treats every civic dispute as a filing problem, which has made the town prosperous, orderly, and occasionally impossible to navigate without a stamped permit.

  2. The Ledger and LadleBuilding · Standalone entry

The Ledger and Ladle is Biscuitwick's busiest tea-house, built around a broad counter and a wall of brass receipt drawers. Locals come for mint tea, pepper biscuits, and the proprietor's discreet knowledge of every shipment entering the canal district.

  3. Mira MintstampPerson · Standalone entry

Mira Mintstamp runs the Ledger and Ladle with a brass stamp press, an immaculate apron, and a notebook of unusually precise tea preferences. She hears every dockside rumor before supper and will trade the useful ones for favors that keep Biscuitwick's paperwork moving.
